NFL Week 12 picks 2012

The Bills go to Lucas Oil Stadium this week and I’m interested to see a full game of Andrew Luck under center.

Luck’s Colts are 6-4 and are in line for a Wild Card spot with a month and a half left of football. He’s eighth in the NFL in passing yards and — while he’s had rookie moments — appears to be the real deal.

If Luck outplays Ryan Fitzpatrick this week — a definite possibility — it will be a stark contrast between what a real franchise quarterback can do and what the Bills have been getting from the lovable but inconsistent Fitzpatrick.

Bills GM Buddy Nix suggested earlier this month he’s already looking ahead to quarterbacks in this year’s draft. Fitz and the Bills edged rookie QBs Brandon Weeden and Ryan Tannehill this season, but if Luck sinks Buffalo’s playoff chances this weekend, he may sink any remaining hope in Fitzpatrick as well.

NFL Week 11 picks 2012

I was actually glad Reggie Bush said some dumb things about Buffalo women this week. Miami week used to be the rivalry game everybody got up for. It’s been pretty lame the last few years while the both teams have had struggles, but this year was different. Everyone was fired up. People cared about this team and this game.

Winning teams get that all the time. Losing teams struggle to keep fans passionate. An ill-advised radio comment isn’t the same as being on top of the conference, but right now we’ll take what we can get.

Canisius’ Bleeker to redshirt

Bleeker.

Canisius sophomore forward Kevin Bleeker will redshirt this season, giving him three more years of eligibility starting next season.

Bleeker, who was recruited by former coach Tom Parrotta from the Netherlands, played in 30 games last season while starting six.

With an influx of forwards this season — including starters Jordan Heath and Freddy Asprilla, who were ineligible last season after transferring — the 6-foot-10 Bleeker was expected to see a decrease in minutes this year.

Bleeker averaged 2.7 points and 2.8 rebounds per game last season.

9-3, but 9-4 because I’ll take a loss for forgetting the Chicago game … which somehow happened even though I made my picks while in Chicago. Weird.

NFL Week 9 picks 2012

Mario Williams’ Houston homecoming comes at a time when the Bills could desperately use a good game from their defensive line — and a win.

Houston’s Arian Foster rushes for the third-most yards per game and looks to prey on his ex-teammate Williams and the rest of the league’s worst run defense, which gives up 6.0 yards per carry.

Even on their losing spree, the Bills are still just 1 1/2 games out of first place in the division. A win over the 6-1 Texans would go a long way in the standings … I just don’t see it.

Buffalo +10.5 at Houston — Houston
